V·Sustainability / Sustainability

With a century's patience,
guarding the long‑term health of women and the planet.

"Granting a woman a life truly whole" — this conviction is the root of a century of the Group's business, and the starting point from which we speak of "sustainability" today. For Toyo Bijin, sustainability has never been the formalism of compliance disclosure; it is the concrete extension of a century-long promise — answering the next generation, on every leaf, every gram of raw material, every research effort, and every commitment of capital.

V — 1·Sustainability Framework / Framework

Three pillars
supporting the same one promise.

E

Environment

Environment

Carbon neutrality pathway, traceable raw materials, recyclable packaging. Beginning from the green chemistry practice of the Kyoto Institute, weaving every molecule's long‑term relationship with the planet into the language of R&D.

S

Social

Social

The Women's Wellness Initiative as the flagship; employee gender balance and long‑term development as the cornerstone; supply chain ethics and community symbiosis as the extension. Social wholeness is the precondition of business.

G

Governance

Governance

Board independence and gender ratio, dual-engine internal risk control, the ethical code and compliance system. Governance is the true base of a century-long enterprise.

V — 2·Commitment Timeline / Commitments

Three years,
three lines from which we do not retreat.

Time is the only measure of whether a commitment is true. We write our commitments above the year, and accept being tested, questioned, and remembered.

  1. 2027

    Traceability

    100% Traceable Raw Materials

From the cultivation site and harvest batch of botanical raw materials to inbound inspection at the Kyoto Institute — a full-chain traceability system. Every drop of essence can be traced to its piece of land.

  2. 2028

    Circularity

    100% Recyclable / Biodegradable Packaging

Phasing out all non-recyclable composite materials, transitioning to glass, aluminum, recycled plastics, and bio-based materials — with a domestic Japan recycling program established.

  3. 2030

    Net Zero

    Net-Zero Production Sites

Net-zero greenhouse-gas emissions across Scope 1 and Scope 2. From the Kyoto Institute to the Japanese production sites — achieved through renewable electricity and process reconstruction.

V — 3·Flagship Initiative / Flagship Initiative

The Women's Wellness Initiative.
The soul‑bright moment of the Group's ESG.

"That at thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, and throughout life, you remain the woman aspired to and reached for." This is not advertising copy — it is how the Group brings sustainability down to the individual life of a woman.

Pillar One

R&D Investment in Intimate Care

The Bijin Privé intimate-care research line is the Group's long‑term commitment to the most private and most overlooked aspect of the woman's body. Clinical and formulation research has continued for over seven years, under the oversight of an independent ethics committee.

Pillar Two

Women's Health Education Public-Interest Fund

In collaboration with the Japanese gynecological community, providing women with lifecycle education, research grants, and community workshops — translating the language of science into everyday-readable health knowledge.

Letting the most patient research
meet the most enduring capital.

Sustainability is the simplest extension of this sentence: the patience of science, the duration of capital, and the relationship with the planet and with women — they are, in the end, the same one thing.
